Customized Skills Program

The ILRC is pleased to introduce our new CUSTOMIZED SKILLS program for the 2011-2012 year.

 What is CUSTOMIZED SKILLS?

This new program provides eligible participants the opportunity to learn the skills required for entry-level employment positions.  CUSTOMIZED SKILLS offers two (2) classroom courses throughout the 2011-2012 year.

  • Office Administration Course (13 weeks) and
  • Customer Service and Retail Course (10 weeks)

During the fall and winter semesters, courses run on a weekly basis for registered, eligible participants.  Developed and facilitated by Ontario Certified Teachers, participants will be taught curriculum that is hands-on, practical and with individual learning needs and styles as a primary focus.

Who is eligible?

The ILRC is a cross-disability agency and supports persons with disabilities to reach their goals.  Participants of CUSTOMIZED SKILLS, however, must be in receipt of ODSP (or be eligible for ODSP Employment Supports), be 'employment ready' and be assessed by our staff for suitability for this program.

Office Administration Course

This course is designed to assist people who are considering entering or re-entering the field of office administration.  Divided into four (4) categories, including Communication, Computers, Administration and Management, participants will be required to attend all of the modules and a comprehension assessment in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.  The Office Administration course is a PowerPoint / instruction based course taught by Ontario Certified Teachers who will be available to clarify, answer questions and run activities in a relaxed atmosphere.  This course is held on various days of the week throughout the 2011-2012 year.
